- Hello my name is Julianna and I am from Ireland taking part in the urbanization and immigration to the urban areas of Chicago.
- Our food is running low, and in the U.S, they have started industrialization, So I am going to head there and get a job and move there.
- ok, I have a house. It is a little small, but it'll work. I also have a job, but it has taken a while to pick one up. I am lucky I came early enough to not pick up a place in the rural areas of Chicago. I am going to work in a factory, making textile.
- For a week's work, you get 5 chillings. We make the textile with a machine called the Spinning Jenny.
- We make a lot of inventions in the factories. I make textile, one of my friends who also immigrated from Ireland makes steamboats. Some other people make telephones.
- Overall, I do like the changes urbanization has brought. I have made a lot more friends since I have moved to the U.S. It is a bummer that my job is taking up everyday of the week, but I am on a schedule now so I know what I need to do and when. I am struggling with the amount of pay I get, but it is better to look at things with a positive outlook.
