- “I helped you dig your hole and now you have to teach me how to read and right.”
- The main characters were Stanley and Zero. It was mostly held in a place called Camp Green Lake. Camp Green Lake was a dried up place in Texas. It’s where students would go if they have done something bad. The climate of this place was really hot and dry.
- Climax
- Stanley was blamed for stealing shoes. He got sent to Camp Green Lake for 16 months.
- Falling Action
- "No we found it."
- "You found it!"
- Zero found out that Stanley actually didn’t steal the shoe. They started to talk and Zero told him he would help him dig his hole. Stanley offered to zero that he can help him read and write.
- Resolution
- After Zero ran away Stanley decided to steal the water truck. He drove it into a hole then he ran off to find Zero. Stanley found Zero and they climbed a mountain called "God's Thumb". Stanley had to carry Zero up the mountains for days and they lived off eating onions and were somehow still alive. "Stanley carrying Zero up the mountain shows that friends and family are important."
- They left the mountain and went back to Camp Green Lake. In the final hole they dug, they found a treasure chest. The warden told everyone that it was her treasure, but it had Stanley's name on it. "When friends and family work together they can accomplish anything."
- The great great grandson of Elya carried up Madame Zeroni's great great great grandson up . They became neighbours and stayed friends forever and ever.
