- All matter is made of tiny particles called atoms.
- Atoms are made of even smaller subatomic particles called protons, neutrons, and electrons.
- Protons are the positively charged particles located in the nucleus. Protons determine an element's identity
- Protons have a mass of one AMU

- Neutrons are also located in the nucleus of an atom.
- They have no charge and weigh the same as a proton.
