  • A Real Business Epidemic
  • Where is this guy?
  • Timothy's Coffee
  • Timothy's Coffee
  • Want to know a big issue that is rarely addressed? A Real Business epidemic. That is, not doing any research on the culture, etiquette, and mannerisms of a country. Especially a country that is your last and final option to make it. This story takes place in the Mecca of Canada, Toronto. Elizabeth and her investment firm is Mohammad's last hope in launching his new oil mixture Venture.
  • Timothy's Coffee
  • yes... 5 times
  • Anyways, I tell you how great my oil mixture is right?
  • Elizabeth is fed up as Mohammad is almost 30 minutes late to the meeting. He hasn't sent her a call and he also isn't answering her calls. In Canada it is very crucial to arrive in time. Most people arrive to a meeting or a event almost 5-15 minutes early.
  • Timothy's Coffee
  • so tell me about how good the sales were for third quarter.
  • *GULP* Um only investors can have that info
  • After 45 Minutes Mohammad arrives to Timothy's Coffee. Elizabeth and Mohammad shake hands. Elizabeth's was firm but Mohammad's hand shake was very timid. Canadians love a good confident hand shake. Mohammad never proceeds to explain why he was late, A HUGE RED FLAG! Canadians believe that time is money and Elizabeth feels her time is being played with.
  • Hi Mohammad I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to meet me, but the negotiations are now terminated. Good luck on your future endeavours.
  • Mohammad and Elizabeth then proceed to sit down at a table. Mohammad doesn't introduce himself or the position he is in in the company. He simply starts bragging and over exaggerating the potential his company and the oil mixture has. This is a red flag as normally people have a little small talk before getting into details and because Canadians love the truth. They don't fancy when people exaggerate and boost the truth.
  • Mohammad couldn't read the mood of the table at all. So Elizabeth decides to move onto finances. She asks him if there was any competitors who made the same mixture, he blatantly lies saying there isn't. When called out for it he says google is the one that's lying. The biggest red flag, someone that is dishonest and manipulates statistics. Then she asks him about the financial report and company, Mohammad nervously says that you only get that information once you are an investor. A relationship isn't going to build if both parties are not open to each other about important and major factors of the business and agreement. Canadians love to give any information available to make it easier to build and advance the relationship. Elizabeth, fed up from the meeting asks to use the restroom.
  • Elizabeth then committed a business crime, How UN-Canadian of her! She lied to him and actually went to the parking lot to leave the situation. She redeems herself after as she texts him that she was actually leaving and that negotiations between both companies were terminated. Who is in the wrong and who committed the most wrong doings? Should Mohammad have read and done research on Canada or should Elizabeth have been more patient with him since he is not from Canada.
