- Juliette Ferrars is a 17-year-old girl with a lethal touch. She accidentally killed a young boy not unaware of her deadly ability. The incident caused her to get abandoned by her family and sent to a mental asylum where she spent almost a year. The book takes place many years in the future. Global warming has destroyed most plants and animals and the government has been overtaken by the dictators of the world called the Reestablishment.
- Climax
- Juliette wakes up one day and discovers she’ll be getting a roommate. Her roommate is a boy her age, named Adam.
- Falling Action
- A few weeks after she met Adam, she is taken from the asylum and brought to Aaron Warner; a 19-year-old boy who is a commander in the Reestablishment. Warner wishes to take Juliette for himself and use her ability as a weapon against his enemies.
- Conclusion
- We find out that Adam was just one of Warner’s soldiers and he was just sent to try and get information out of Juliette however he grew to care for Juliette and together they escape from Warner and the Reestablishment.
- After their escape, Juliette and Adam escape to the house Adam used to live in before becoming a soldier. Soon after, a young man named Kenji shows up at the door. Kenji was also a soldier for Warner however he explains that he was working undercover and that he really is loyal to a rebel group and that his job was to recover Juliette from the Reestablishment. We find out that many of the rebels have abilities similar to Juliettes and they wish to defeat the Reestablishment.
- Kenji takes Adam and Juliette to the rebel base called Omega Point. There, Juliette will meet others with abilities and train to control her ability to one day use it to fight the Reestablishment. She learns that her power is not a curse but a gift. And that she’s not alone. Juliette adjusts to her new life at Omega Point with the hope that one day, they can take down the Reestablishment and finally live in peace.
