Ionians try to revolt and Greece helps. Revolt fails but Greece really pissed off Persia
Battle of Thermopylae
The Persians, after making sufficient vows of revenge first engage the Athenians at Marathon. Despite Athens only having 10,000 and the Persians having 25,000, Athens win with minimal losses
Sea battle outside Athens
Bonk!
The Persians try to rush into Athens after a crushing defeat at Marathon. But a brave man had been sent to warn the city that the army was on the way. The Persians, seeing a locked and ready city, promptly turned around and left.
End results
Persia trys to attack again but gets held back by 300 spartens while the actual Athens army retreats to Athens
Sparta!!!
Athens Abandons their city to take the fight to the sea. Persia bottles the Athens fleet in a channel but decides to smooth brain and attack in their slow ships instead of trying to starve them out. This allows the Athenian ramming ships to take out a third of the Persian navy.
>:(
with Athens successfully beating Persia back, Athens goes on to create the Delian league with the goal of preventing the Persians from ever returning. The Delian League would later be abused by Athens to extort funds from the other city states.
the Delian Leaguetrust me it's a great idea that definitely won't backfire at all
