- In Monster Are Due On Maple Street by Rod Sterling one of the themes is fear can cause destution.The evidence supporting the theme is that everyone was ganging up on Les Goodman because his car was the only one that started and he stayed up late at night.The second reason is that Charlie turned on Steve and said he was working on a radio that is used to communicate with the aliens.Last is because Charlie shot Pete because he thought he was an alien approaching him.The explanation for the 1st evidence is that people assumed that Les was an alien so out of fear they tried to put the blame on him which deducted his relationship with the community and neighbors.The explanation for the 2nd piece of evidence is that out of fear Carile tried to put the suspicion on Steve because he was afraid of people thinking he was an alien. That also destroys their relationship or friendshipThe Last explanation is that Charlie shot Pete out of fear of him being a monster and attacking him.
