  • Teen dating abuse can also be physical. Physical abuse is any kind of unwanted contact, which includes punching, kicking, and not letting you call the police. In the United States, up to 19% of teens experience sexual or physical dating violence, according to the American Psychological Association.

  • It is vital to know that teen dating abuse can come in many forms, physical, emotional, or sexual. Teen dating violence is extremely unhealthy, and victims are more likely to experience depression, anxiety, and do drugs. It is important to talk about teen dating violence because we'll build awareness and take action to prevent this. Victims must remember to ask for help, by telling a loved one or calling the police or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.
  • Teen dating abuse can also include sexual abuse. Sexual abuse can include forcing you to have sex, coercing you into having sex by making you feel guilty, and threatening you if you don't have sex. Women between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rate of dating violence according to NJCASA.
