- Covey: COME BACK NOW DOUGLASS!
- RISING ACTION: Douglass wants to get help from his previous owner Thomas Auld because of Covey's cruelness This trip does not go as planned though. Covey see's Douglass and comes after him with the cowskin, but Douglass luckily hides in the large cornfield.
- Thomas Auld Field
- Douglass: *hides in cornfield*
- Bill: I'm a worker not a whipper!
- Climax: Covey tries to kill Douglass but he fights back. Then Hughes comes in and tries to help covey but he ends up hurt , After all this Bil comes in but refuses to help covey because he is a worker not a whipper. Douglass is winning this battle
- Hughes: *In pain from Douglas*
- Covey: Take hold of him bill! Ow!!!
- Douglass: *Fights Covey* (obviously winning)
- Resolution: After this fight that Douglass wins, he does not feel like a slave. Although says he doesn't feel like whipping. Douglas knows he won against a master, he feels free.
- Covey: Work hard or I will whip you Douglass... nevermind I don't want to get a hold of you again
- Douglass: *I feel power, I don't feel like a slave I feel manly
