- This is King Duncan. He was the King of Scotland from 1034-1040. He was a wise and brave ruler who was loved and respected by his people.

- The image of the king's blood-drenched body seared itself into Macbeth's mind. He had committed the most heinous of crimes. His guilt weighed heavy on his soul, and was overcome with a sense of dread.
