- Act 1 scene 2Anne recieves her diary but is sad after her dad she can never leave the annex.Amsterdam, 12 June 1942.
- The Frank family and the Van Daans have just arrived to the annex. And Mr.Frank asks Anne to get a box.
- He indicates a carton on the couch. Anne brings it to the centre table.
- Annele, there's a box there. Will you open it?
- There's something more. Go on. Look further
- After looking at some things inside the box. Mr.Frank says there is still one more thing.
- A diary!
- Pulls out a pasteboard-bound book.
- I've never had a diary. And I've always longed for one.
- She throws her arms around her father.
- Anne goes shouting for a pencil because she is so excited to write in her new diary.
- Pencil, pencil, pencil,pencil.
- I'm going down to the office to get a pencil
- She starts down the stairs.
- Mr.Frank goes after her, catching her by the arm and pulling her back.
- Anne! No!
- Anne then asks why she cant go downstairs even if there is no one there. And stays really sad after Mr.Frank says she can never leave.
