- Marine life swim with plastic floating all around them that we dispose of in the ocean. Fishes mistake this for food and swallow plastic chunks and also the tiny microplastics that are floating in the water but not visible to them. This affects the fish, possibly killing them at some point. But, when these fishes get captured by fishing nets or other ways, then this is when plastic will eventually start to affect us.
