4. The plague spread
The first person on land was infected by the plague in October 1347. People had been infected by the plague on the ships the rats had come on but the first recorded case on land was in october 1347

Millions of people started to get sick and die. The plague killed tens of millions of people, the plague killed about 1/3 of the European population, between 1347–1351
Flagellants were people who traveled about whipping each other. They believed that the Black Deathwas God's punishment and if they punished themself God would forgive them. Many people also tried escaping Europe during this time
The most popular theory of how the plague ended is through the implementation of quarantines. The uninfected would usually remain in their homes and only leave when it was necessary, while those who could afford to do so would leave the more densely populated areas and live in greater isolation.
