- This is the Norman Army, including many different types of soldiers like archers, knights and spearmen. Each of these soldiers were highly trained. This gives William an advantage with the variety of skills within the army.
- A Smart Plan
- This is the Saxon army. It consists of the Fyrds and the Housecarls. The housecarls were properly trained while the Fyrds, on the other hand are just part time soldier that were called to help when their country is under threat. Harold's army were worn out from a previous battle called The Battle Of Stamford Bridge. Unfortunately for them, they had to fight in the Battle of Hastings right after that and it results in the army having lower numbers. This sets Harold at a great disadvantage.
- The Saxon army formed a shield wall not allowing the Norman army to do much damage. Soon after some attempts, the Norman army imagined that their duke was dead and started running away!
- The duke rushed after them and showed his face. “Look at me!” he shouted, “I’m still alive.” This made the Norman army regain hope and they thought up a plan. The Normans pretended to run away and the Saxons chased after them , breaking the shield wall! Then the Normans soldiers turned around and killed the people that chased them!
