The Move
Storyboard Text
- Opening scene, close up on Ben who has just been picked up by his mum after his last day at Wattle Grove Public School. Car is moving, music playing on the radio quietly in the background is David Bowie's "Changes". Ben is sobbing and inconsolable.")
- Why?
- Ben's mum's voice can be heard but camera remains focused on Ben's face as he looks out window and tries to control his breathing. Next song in the background from the car radio is "Just Breathe" by Pearl Jam and Ben closes his eyes.
- Zzzzz...
- The car pulls up at home and Ben wakes up suddenly as the engine turns off. He briefly touches his forehead then gets out, grabs his backpack and walks inside.
- Ben's bedroom at night. Dark, but dimly lit with bedside light. After showering and changing into his PJ's Ben collapses onto his bed and falls asleep for the night.
- Next morning. Ben walks sleepily from his bedroom to the kitchen where he talks to his parents about his thoughts and feelings. He enjoys breakfast as Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" plays softly in the background on the kitchen radio.
- Next scene is Ben playing Xbox in spare room. Repeat same scene over and over in fast forward to show passing of time. (5 weeks)
- Almost back to school time. Anxiety and fear of starting new school returns and mum gives reassuring talk and hug.Ben goes to sleep for the night.
- First day at new school. Camera follows Ben and his mum walking towards entrance and sound of heartbeat plays in background.
- Inside school office. Ben is greeted by Principal.He smiles and looks relieved.
- Inside classroom. Ben is introduced to his teacher and some classmates.
- Outside in playground. Ben plays soccer with his newfound friends and helps set up a goal!
- Final scene back inside school building. Ben and friends are smiling and happy and random student walks past wearing headphones. Faint sound of Fleetwood Mac song can be heard as she walks past, "Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow". Camera pulls back and fades out with song still playing as credits roll.
