- Soldiers. This is going to be a tough battle to fight, but we've got to start by setting up camp.

- This winter can't get any worse! We are all sick and have lost too many soldiers. We're in no shape to fight.
- Morale is low due to previous battles, and supplies are beginning to run low. Frigid winters bring extreme disease and sickness like influenza and typhoid fever.
- Soldiers came in with low morale due to prior battles, and the lack of preparation and supplies proved to make matters worse. Soldiers suffered from various diseases and the winter air only grew more frigid.
