- In this chapter Lennie accidently kills a mouse and George makes Lennie give him the mouse and then throws it away. They are also in this clearing where George says to Lennie if anything goes wrong at the ranch come back here and I will come and find you.
- "i don't know why i can't keep it. It ain't nobodys mouse"
- "you gonna give me that mouse or do i have to sock you"

- "we jus' come in"
- "he can talk if he wants to say anything"
- "an' you won't let the big guy talk, is that it?"
- In this chapter Lennie and George meet Curley and as Curley is short with the napoleon complex he straight away goes for Lennie and tells him to speak up. Although as George told Lennie to stay quiet Lennie waited for the the nod form George to say anything.

- 'his closed fist was lost in Lennie's big hand'
- 'the next minute Curley was flopping like a fish on a line'
- "get him Lennie. Don't let him do it"
- In this chapter Curley starts a fight with Lennie. At first Lennie just covers his face and asks for help and lets Curley hurt him. Although as soon as George tells him to fight back, he does and Curley is instantly injured due to how strong Lennie actually is.
