- This type of soil has the nutrients and minerals that these plants need to thrive. Not all soil is the same though, it depends on the soils process of being made.
- It's so cool how well these plants thrive in this soil! wonder what makes this soil so special?
- How is soil created?
- All soil begins as solid rock. There are many different factors that can change the solid rock into soil though, such as parent material, climate, organisms, topography, and time.
- Can you explain what parent material is?

- topography is the arrangement of the natural and artificial physical features of an area. This can affect how soil is made through erosion and distributing water particles. Climate can also affect soil development through weathering. Weathering is a freezing and thawing process. when things, such as rocks, get cold, they shrink. once they warm up, they thaw and expand. With constant freezing and thawing throughout seasons, rocks deteriorate away from constantly shrinking and expanding.

- Soil organisms add organic matter and physically breakdown larger particles. Us worms are prime examples of soil organisms.
