- Did you hear about the embargo that the US placed on Australia?
- Start of school.
- What even is an embargo?
- Excuse me Mrs. Smith, do you have any idea what an embargo is?
- In class.
- It is a trade barrier indeed, but embargoes specifically, are complete stops in trade.
- Recess is over, time to go home everyone!
- All I know is that it is a trade barrier.
- Are there any other trade barriers?
- Hey, I'm not going to trade you 2 baseball cards for 1!
- Yes, along with embargoes there are also tariffs and quotas.
- That's like a tariff because tariffs add higher taxes on exports, similar to adding extra cards when trading.
- Just like a quota, because they slow down trade.
- At recess.
- Oh, time to go, race you to the door!
- I'm already winning!
- After school, at home.
