Storyboard Text

  • Kate and liana was having a discussion on DNA and RNA virus replication , as they were having their exam on next day.
  • All DNA viruses replicate in the nucleus, usinghost cell polymerases
  • All RNA viruses replicate in the cytoplasm of the host cell, using virally-encoded polymerases.
  • DNA - Enter the host cell's nucleus where the viral DNA is replicated.
  • RNA is produced which moves into the host cell cytoplasm where viral proteins are produced.
  • Replicated DNA strand remains hydrogen bonded to its template DNA strand. DNA require RNA primer to start replication.
  • RNA virus attaches to the host cell and injects it's RNA virus into the host cell to initiate infection. The cell membrane of the host cells invaginates the virus particles , enclosing it in pinocytotic vacoule.
  • There are no Okazaki fragments, both strands are synthesized in a continuous fashion.
  • The infecting RNA virus produces messenger RNA. The mRNA is used to instruct the host cells to produce viral components .
  • DNA polymerases cannot initiate synthesis de novo, they need a primer. In the case of adenovirus, the virally coded terminal protein (TP) acts as a primer. It is thus found covalently linked to the 5' end of all adenovirus DNA strands.
  • new protein coats are produced inside the cell. Mature visions assemble within the cell.
  • The replication strategy of a virus is generally dependent upon the type of nucleic acid genome it contains
  • In RNA virus replication the Cell ruptures and release mature virus particles. These are the points to be known for DNA nd RNA virus replication.
