- Laius and Jocasta receive the Oracle of Delphi, which states that any son born of Laius is prophesized to murder and marry his wife, thus becoming the new King of Thebes.

- Laius and Jocasta, the rulers of Thebes hear a prophecy that their son will be cursed to kill his father and marry his mother. They tie his feet together and leave him in the woods to die.

- He is found and raised by Polybus and Merope in Corinth.

- The Shepard didn't do his duty so Oedipus grew up to be the prince of another city (Corinth), he believed that they were his actual parents, Oedipus ended up ran away...

- Oedipus was angry at the profession because Teiresiasias said that he would be to blame for the deaths of this kingdom and Oedipus was angry at the words that told him.

- Jocasta is certain that the servant will repeat the story he has always told and confirm that there were multiple attackers. She reminds Oedipus that if his story does change, it cannot match the oracle’s prophecy for Laius’s death. Laius and Jocasta’s son died as a child, long before he could have killed Laius.
