- At the start of the Punic Wars in 264 B.C.E. Rome interfered with Carthage on Sicily and Rome prepared to try and take Sicily and Corsica.
- From the start, Carthage was not as strong as Rome. They had a lot of land, and it was bound to be taken from Rome.
- The first Punic War was on water. Carthage was at a disadvantage because they usually fight on land so Rome won the first war and gained some of Carthage’s land. This war lasted 23 years.
- In the second Punic war, General Haniball invaded the Romans and fought them with their elephants they used to make their way across the alps. The Carthaginians won this war. This war lasted 23 years.
- the third and final Punic War was in the Carthaginian territory. It lasted four years and Rome ended up defeating Carthage in a rough battle.
- The Punic Wars ended at around 146 B.C.E. Carthage was destroyed and overthrown by Rome. The Carthaginians were enslaved by the Romans and all of Carthage now belonged to Rome after winning two of the three wars involved.
