My mom said that I could decide what religion I wanted to be once I was older, but I wasn’t sure if I should tell my friends this. What if my friends think having two religions is just, well, weird?
I’d always enjoyed celebrating Christmas and Hanukkah, saying grace before eating meals, and praying before going to sleep, and I never questioned my religion at home, but something about telling other people made it feel more real, like whatever I said now was going to be true forever.
Plus, I had always been fond of yoga and meditation, since I took a yoga after school class. But then I found out meditation and yoga are part of Buddhism. Could I be three religions? That would be too much! I was relieved when my mom told me that Buddhism is a philosophy or way of life, but not a religion I had to choose.
