- Robert E. Lee, Abraham Lincoln both had taken a stancet on either conclusion or side. Both armies had fought treacherously as this was announced as the most bloodiest battle.

- Both armies had met at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. After this three-day bloodshed, Lee had retreated the battle while his army had suffered many deaths/casualties. The Battle of Gettysburg was the final straw leading into war.

- After the war, four months had passed. During the time, Abraham Lincoln devoted a ceremonial occurrence to respect the fallen soldiers of the union in the Gettysburg Address. This was a Union Victory
