  • What are you talking about? I own the rights to Oswald
  • You signed the contract the rights are mine and so is the character
  • What about a mouse? We could name it... Mortimer!
  • Then what about Mickey?
  • I don't really like the name Mortimer

  • Walt Disney goes to New York in February 1928 to meet with Charles Mintz to discuss the contract regarding the Oswald Cartoons. Walt discovers his animators signed over the rights, so Walt is forced to sign swell. Loosing his rights to his own creation.
  • I award you with an honorary Academy Award
  • Thank you so much!
  • After discovering the loss of his own creation as well as the loss of his animators, Walt and his wife, Lilly, take a train back to California. On their way they come up with the idea of a new character that would replace the loss of the character Oswald, Mickey Mouse was the product of this train ride.

  • Mickey Mouse becomes a symbol around the world. Walt signed contracts that used Mickey for inspiration during World World Two. Mickey Mouse was also a symbol for America's positive spirit, survival instincts, altruism, and freedom.

  • We have passed the Mickey Mouse Protection Act
  • Walt grows famous for being the creator of Mickey Mouse, and he is awarded titles and horary academy awards. 
  • The new sensation of Mickey Mouse brought the idea of spreading Disney magic around the world. Walt devolved comics, magazines, and a lot of other merchandise revolving around the mouse character. Walt was in a state of prosper.
  • Later in life after Walt Disney passed away, Walt's goal was accomplished. His Disney Magic was spread around the world for everyone to enjoy. In order to protect his creations the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the constitutionality of the Mickey Mouse Protection Act. An act that protects the rights to Walt's creations even after his death.
