- AWW MOM! SUNLIGHT, CARBON DIOXIDE AND WATER AGAIN??
- Early Morning
- NO, YOU MAY NOT BE EXCUSED. YOU'RE NOT LEAVING THIS BREAKFAST TABLE UNTIL YOU'RE FINISHED PHOTOSYNTHESISING!
- Mid Morning
- AW, MOM!
- It was a typical day at the Plantae household in the tropics. The sun was out and the brief intermittent rainfall was expected. Mrs. Cherry Plantae and her son Mato Plantae were outdoors preparing a meal.
- Night
- WOW! WHAT A DAY I'VE HAD. AND I STILL NEED TO I NEED TO PUT ALL THIS FOOD AWAY.
- Plants make their own foodusing carbon dioxide, water, sunlight and chlorophyll. Carbon dioxide is present in the atmosphere and enters the plant through tiny pores called stomata. Water enters the plant from the soil via its roots. Chlorophyll is a green pigment found in the green parts of plants.
- The process by which green plants make their own food is called Photosynthesis.
- The products of Photosynthesis are oxygen and the sugar glucose.The fate of Glucose include:1. Use in respiration.2. Converted to cellulose and used to make new cell walls. 3. Converted to amino acids and protein for growth. 4. Excess is converted to sucrose and transported. 5. Excess is converted to starch and stored.
