- A Rose for Emily is the story of an eccentric spinster, Emily Grierson. Emily's peculiar circumstances, her odd interactions with her father, her lover, and the town of Jefferson, as well as the horrific truth she hides, are described by an unknown narrator.
- Two years after her father's death, her sweetheart, the one we thought would marry her, abandoned her. She went out very little after her father died, and after her sweetheart left her, she was rarely seen. This is her second bereavement, following the death of Colonel Satroris.This causes her to lose and cling to loved ones.

- This happens when the Miss Emily goes to the pharmacy to buy a poison and we learn about the odor in her house and the fact that Homer has abandoned her.Her family and ancestral past command immense respect, but she does not always receive it. Many people are fascinated about her and her mystery life, despite the fact that certain individuals protect her.
- Emily murders Homer, she is terrified by losing him that she murders him in order to keep him forever. She keeps his body and will never have to worry about losing him again.
- Miss Emily is beginning to get old. She is fading into death, and the town realizes.
- A Rose for Emily A Rose by William Faulkner tells the story of a tenacious elderly woman who everyone suspects of murdering Homer Barron. Miss Emily Grierson, firmly entrenched in the ways of the old South, refused to accept the laws of the new generation. With foreshadowing and symbolism, the author keeps the audience interested. Faulkner begins the story with an ingenious use of foreshadowing. "When Miss Emily Grierson died, our entire town went to her," he says at the start of the story.
