- the sinking of battleship Maine happened at 9:40pm on february the 15 has blown up. killing 260 officers and men on board. many people help the spanish responsibly for the ship blowing up . and it was the first american battle ship to cost more the $2 million to just build the ship.
- the Spanish-American war was a war between Spain and United States. the war started on April 21, 1898, and lasted until August 13, 1898. the Roughriders led Theodore Roosevelt defeated by the Spanish at San Juan Hill. the main reason the war was started was that the ship USS Maine blew up. The Spanish-American War was an important turning point in the history of both antagonists. Spain’s defeat decisively turned the nation’s attention away from its overseas colonial adventures and inward upon its domestic needs, a process that led to both a cultural and a literary renaissance and two decades of much-needed economic development in Spain.
