- Miners would inhale silica dust and get sick. They would get greedy and get jealous because other miners would get lucky with gold. The greedy miners would harm other miners to steal their gold.
- Miners thought they would get lucky digging gold but in reality it would be hard to find. Daniel Murphy dug 1.5 million of gold in a year, that is worth 40 million today.
- I should dig more tomorrow.

- The miners would inhale silica dust and get sick. Miners would get jealous and greedy so they would harm each other to steal the gold.
- Conflict among Miners.
- Some miners were injured in explosions or electrocuted. Others fell off ladders, slipped on rocks, inhaled silica dust, or suffered from mercury, lead or arsenic poisoning. Many got sick from drinking dirty water and living too close together.
- No gold again!
- I deserve that gold. Im going to steal it.
- Miners would chop up trees, dig big holes, and destroy nature just to find more gold. They transformed the way California looked. Changed rivers, and multiple fires were caused. California also became a state.
