- King Louis XVI calls representatives from all Three Estates to solve France's financial crisis. Since each estate had one vote The First and Second Estate stopped The Third Estate from getting what they wanted. The Third Estate didn't like how the voting was and wanted the voting be by population.
- Constitution of 1791
- King Louis locked the Third Estate out of the meeting so they meet on a nearby tennis court and creates the National Assembly. They made an oath vowing to establish a new constitution for France.
- Reign of Terror
- King Louis did not want a written constitution and made a plan to use military force against the National Assembly. The Third Estate heard of the plan and stormed the Bastille. In August, the National Assembly issues the Declaration on the Right of Man.
- Rise of Napoleon
- The National Assembly makes France's first constitution. They made democratic features and undemocratic features. The new government is known as the Legislative Assembly.
- In 1793 - 1794 the Committee of Public Safety was introduced. People accused of treason were tried by the Committee's Revolutionary Tribunal. Those who resisted the revolution were guillotined by Maximilien Robespierre.
- Napoleon invades kingdoms throughout Europe, overthrew the France government, and began his reign.
