- Erikson's first stage of psychological development describes a time where an infant is trying to figure out trust and mistrust. For example here, Tyrone learns to trust his mother as she always feeds him whenever he is hungry.

- Erikson's second stage of psychological development describes a time where a child either starts becoming independent and doing things himself. For example here, Tyrone decides to finally go to the bathroom without any assistance from his mom.

- Autonomy vs. Shame (1-2)
- Erikson's third stage of psychological development describes a time where a child either begins to initiate tasks themselves and learn of their effect on the environment or feel guilty. For example here, Tyrone is both initiating creating sandcastles with his friends and an important role to bring buckets for him and his friends.
