- the story started when a pope named gergory was born into being a pope and stayed as one. He wanted the church to be lead by the popes and for the popes to have more power.
- please let me in there is snow coming and I just want to talk!
- why dont you just wait there for a while!
- pope gregory was given the power to appoint bishops but henry IV was not happy about that. he did not want pope gregory to have power over him which started a confict between the two

- i thought i heard something
- the two were very angry with eachother and both wanted the other to be kicked out of there position. this confict went on for a long time and were very mad at eachother.
- *god would beg to differ*
- IM RIGHT AND YOU KNOW IT!
- the confict came to a all time high when henry the IV appointed himself bishop of rome. this made pope gregory so made that he excumunicated him. leaving henry with no power and begging for forgiveness.
- this lead to henry sitting outside the castle in the snow for 3 days. this was not fun for him but still the confict continued for a long time even after both of them had died
- an agrement was finaly settled in 1122 known as the contrant of worms which was that popes have power to appoint bishops. this however still did not stop the arguments are fights between popes and monarchs
