Baba and Amir take a trip to the doctor because Baba caught a cold and began coughing up blood. The doctor soon broke the news to them of a suspicious spot on his lung that would need to be looked at by a Pulmonary clinic.

They just lowered Baba into the ground, and Amir feels the need to go and to find Soraya. So he goes to the mosque and asks her if she would like to take a walk. They end up going on a walk and find a bench to sit on and talk. Soon enough Amir lets out the emotions he's been holding back.

"I'm going to miss him" (176).

"A year isn't a while, Amir!
