- Boiling Water
- Cutting a Piece of Paper
- Fireworks Exploding
- It's a physical change because you are applying heat to create steam and change its state of matter. You are not changing the chemical composition of the water. Also, steam can be reverted back to water by cooling it down.
- A Knight's Armor Begins to Rust
- This would be a physical change since the chemical composition of the paper stays the same while the physical shape changes. While physical changes are reversible, this is an exception because you cannot uncut a piece of paper.
- Painting on a Canvas
- This is a chemical change since you are changing the chemical composition of the original firework from a rocket to an explosion. The change is also irreversible.
- Digesting Food
- This is a chemical change because the metal is combining with the O2 (oxygen) to form a new substance, rusty metal. This is an irreversible effect.
- This is a physical change since you are not forming a new substance. This is just matter on top of matter. Plus, this change is easily reversed by washing the paint off the canvas.
- This is a chemical change because the acids in your stomach change what you are eating into a completely different substance, and the process is irreversible.
