- Parris go up and bring Goody Proctor out. And don''t mention what''s been spoken of in here.
- John Proctor has confessed to committing adultery with Abigail. But he must prove it.
- If your wife confessed to your harlotry may God spread mercy on you. Now turn your backs, neither of you shall face Goody Proctor. And No one is to say anything or give a gesture of yay or nay.
- Proctor tells Danforth the details about him, Abigail, and his wife. Abigail refuses to answer whether it's true or not.
- Elizabeth I already confessed. Tell the truth!

- Danforth calls for Elizabeth to come down to see if her story will match John's.
- She only said that to cover me.

- She has spoke nothing of lechery and this man has lied!
- Danforth is about to bring Elizabeth in the room. Abigail and John must turn their backs to make sure neither do or say anything to influence her answer.
- Elizabeth lies to try to protect her husband's name in the public but he has already confessed. They have told Danforth two different stories.
- Hale speaks up and says that he believes that what Proctor said was true, and his wife was covering for him. Danforth does not believe it and is standing on what Elizabeth said.
