Goes back in time in 1985, two years after the death of Miss Emily's father. Her neighbors complain about the horrible smell coming from her house and reported it to the government. The Aldermen sneak over to Miss Emily's house and spread lime around it until the smell went gone.
A few years passed Miss Emily begins dating Homer Barron, who is in town on a sidewalk-building project, not long after her father died. The town disapproved on their relationship, and they call Miss Emily's cousin to stop their relationship.
Emily is seen purchase arsenic at the drugstore one day, and the town assumes that Homer is taking advantage of her and that she intends to commit suicide.
