- It all began at the carnival in Venice, Italy. The main characters are Montresor (narrator) and Fortunato met over a glass of wine.
- Falling action
- Montresor leads Fortunato into the deep cold and dark basement where he says the rare wine of amontillado is. Montresor was trying to get his revenge on Fortunato for his "insults" upon him.
- Resolution
- Montresor chained Fortunato to the wall of catacombs and started to build The first layers of masonry. Montresor also begins to ignore Fortunato's screams.
- Theme
- Fortunato finally stops screaming and Montresor only hears his costume when he threw the torch in the catacombs.
- Montresor finally finishes the wall he made so no one could find Fortunato.
- Not all revenge is good revenge and sometimes revenge is not always the answer.
