- Mathilda thinks she deserves more than she has, and that she deserves a rich husband. Mr. Loisel isn't rich but he provides. Madame forestieris Mathildas wealthy friend.

- I lost the necklace!
- I will go look for it!
- Mathilda loves jewelry, clothes, and money, and she doesn't have that. She doesn't even love her husband.
- Mr. Loisel gets an invitation to this rich people party thinking his wife will love it but she starts crying because she doesn't have an expensive dress or jewels to wear to the party. The husband gives her the money he was planning on buying a gun with to her so she can buy a dress. And she borrows a diamond necklace from Madame Forestier.
- I lost your necklace and bought you a new one ten years ago
- It was fake!
- Mathilda is at the party till 4am even though her husband needs to work at 10, once she is home she realizes she doesn't have the necklace on. Her husband starts looking for it even though he is super tired and already ready for bed.
- After Mathilda lost the necklace, both her and her husband decided to pull out loans and their own money to buy Madame Forestier a new identical necklace. They work how to pay off their debt for 10 years and Matilda now knows what actually living poverty is like, she even has a job and has to cook and wash dishes.
- Mathilda admits to Madam forestier that she lost her necklace 10 years ago and bought her a new one and had been paying it off all these years. And it turn out, the neckalce was a fake all along.
