- I,d run with him across the ends of the cotton rows and careen him around corners on two wheels. Sometimes i accidentally turned him over, but he never told mama.
- The narrator sees Doodle smile, so he knows he is all there.
- Its so pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty.
- Doodle gets his name by crawling backward like a doodle bug.
- Its dead
- The narrator tips Doodle out of the go cart.
- He,s dead
- The narrator shows Doodle the beauty of the old woman swamp.
- The scarlet ibis dies.
- Doodle dies.
