- -Imagine being accused of a crime you did not commit simply because your skin was darker than others.- finch family who lives in Maycomb, Alabama. Atticus - father and a lawyer.- racism and prejudice during the times in Maycomb
- - A young black man was accused of raping a white woman- Atticus was asked to defend at the court- Atticus get looks from the Maycomb town of the prejudice and preconceptions people have against Tom Robinson- 
- - Atticus's children becomes the center of the attention because their father is representing a black man.
- - Tom is found guilty even though he is innocent due to his race- Atticus's children are at disbelieve that people are willing to send an innocent man to the electric chair
- - Bob Ewell disapproves of Atticus's family/anyone associated with him- Bob Ewell threatened both Atticus and Tom's wife.- Atticus's children are in fear
- - Bob Ewell goes after Scout and Jem instead of Atticus- The neighbor (Boo Radley) comes to help the children by grabbing a knife and killing him
