- After Ponyboy walked out of the movie theater he started walking and then passed by a corner and then the socs jumped him, he thought,"Darry ill' kill me for walkin home alone."(1)It shows just how brutal and cruel the socs are.
- Next when they were in the park after getting chased by Bob and his gang Johnny kills Bob saying,"I killed him."(4), it shows that johnny was done being pick on and was gonna stop it at all costs.
- Ponyboy tells the story of Johnny getting beat up in the vacant lot by the socs where he swore,"if they ever attack me again, i'll kill them."(2) It shows why johnny is done getting pick on by the socs.
- After that they escape to the abandoned church and then come back later to find it on fire.Johnny says"I started it" before rushing in to save the children and breaking his back(6)It shows that we all make accidents and sometimes those accidents can kill people.
- After the church fire they get home and ponyboy goes to the rumble and gets kicked in the head where darry says"you need to use your head!"(8)it shows that both sides are willing to do whatever it takes to win.
- Lastly after johnny dies Dally decided to get killed by the cops and ponyboy retorts"Johnny was the only thing he really ever cared about or loved."(10)It shows that the greasers are like a tight group of brothers and dally couldn't stand to live without johnny.
