- After the immune response is shut off, some B cells retain memory of the former invader. These are called Memory B Cells. These cells now will remember and recognize the former pathogen if they strike back and immediately start producing antibodies to destroy them. After the former pathogen has been destroyed, Memory B Cells will be silent and at rest until another attack from a former pathogen or invader occurs.
- Don't worry everyone! We have a good memory and we now remember exactly who this foreign invader was! The next time they try to attack we will be prepared!!

- In some cases, an individual's immune systems fail to determine the difference between self and foreign cell, which therefore leads to immune cells attacking host cells. This is what is known as Autoimmune diseases which usually involves the failure of Suppressor T cells to control the Killer T cells and B cells. About 10% of the population is diagnosed with this disease, with the majority being females. Examples of Autoimmune diseases are rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes.

- Throughout life, individuals have the opportunity to help and improve their immune system through the use of antibiotics and vaccines! Antibiotics help to fight bacterial infections by attacking the wall or coating surrounding the pathogen. While vaccines introduce dead pathogenic antigens to the immune system which trigger the production of memory cells and antibody responses in order to remember the cell and protect you from it! Both antibiotics and vaccines can greatly help and support your immune system!
