- The Old Man, leaves his mistress and their son, with his wife; as he partakes on a year long journey.

- As her husband was away, the wife practiced soothsaying and magic everyday.. Until she perfected it, to commit the most perfect crime.
- The wife used her newly learned magic and turned her husband's mistress into a cow, and son into a calf.
- The wife offered the mistress son to the Shepard.
- Tend this baby bull with the rest of your cattle.
- I ensure you , he will turn into one of the finest of our cattle.
- The wife, then, offered the mistress to the Shepard.
- Take this one too, and turn her into the fattest cow possible.
- Oh! Well gladly! I will have her eat the finest of grass
