- the setting is "on a rooftop near O'Connell bridge" in Irelandthe characters are republican sniper, free stater snipers, old lady informer (free stater). the sniper eats a sandiwch and then smokes a ciggerete, this leaves his hiding spot to be found.

- I am a free stater! I drove an armored car and talk to the informer.

- the sniper shot the man that came across the bridge in a armoured car and the old lady-informer then was shot at by his enemy on another roof in the story is mentions: "a shot rang out and the sniper dropped his rifle with a curse. The sniper fakes his death by putting his cap up on his revolver then the enemy shoots his cap and thinks he is dead.
