  • Hi! My name is autumn and I'm about to show you the wonders of the world and how it relates to math!
  • using the given side length and angle degrees we can figure out what side length X is by using the law of sine. This gives me the answer x= 19.8.

  • Take this triangle here that I've outlined in black for example. Using the law of sines we can find the missing side.

  • So, given that the angle of this point on our circle is 45 degrees. We can now figure out that the radians is pi/4 and the points on the graph are (sqrt2/2, sqrt2/2) just by knowing the unit circle.
  • Next looking at the half circle of the top of this building. We can look at our unit circle to figure out the amount of radians and the points on the circle.

  • For this example we can use SohCahToa to find the height of this building. We can do Sin (28)= x/19. After solving this equation we know that the height of the building is 8.9 feet.

  • Based on this information we can use right triangle trig to find the angle of x. We can do tan (x)= 7/5. Then we simplify it and get 54.5 degrees as x.

  • Similarly to the last equation, we can also use SohCahToa to find the height of the statue of liberty. After solving this equation using Cosine we get the answer that the statue of liberty is 24.3 meters.
  • Now we are gonna do another unit circle problem. given that this angle is 5pi/6 radians we can figure out that is is 150 degrees and the points are (-sqrt3/2, 1/2).

  • Now we are going to use the law of cosine to figure out the angle of x. First we need to do 21 squared = 16 squared + 26 squared - 2(16)(26) cos (x). Then after simplifying and solving, we get 53.8 degrees.
