Marcus (40), a single dad, received an eviction notice from his landlord. Sandra (7) and Max (12) , his children, are confused on why they have to leave.
The family now moved to the Melrose Houses, a NYCHA building, in the South Bronx. Sandra is throwing a tantrum because of how upset she is to leave her home behind.
Dear to Whom it May Concern, I have recently been evicted from my home because of the rising rent costs I couldn't keep up with and am now living a NYCHA building. What was supposed to be my home turned into a filthy nightmare. So now I am turning to you guys for help to spread awareness because I know many others with this problem. Thank you, Marcus Rodriguez
NEWS 12- NYC
In this "new" building there is many rats and cracked walls, which can lead to lead poisoning.
Marcus is on the phone with the housing authority to complain about his lead and rat problem. He is furious because of what has forced them into these unsanitary conditions.
Marcus takes these complaints to his local news but doesn't hear anything back from them. The local news don't find this story interesting because it's nothing new to them.
While visiting some friends back at his old place the Rodriguez family see a new family moving into their old home.
