- In 1851 the idea of establishing one great enclave where many tribes can live gave way, and the idea of concentration emerged where each tribe received their assigned reservations. However, this Concentration Policy negatively affected us, making us vunerable to be controlled by the government.
- "I need you to sign here on this treaty to grant you this rerservation since I am a *legitimate* representative."
- The Decimation of Buffalo was after the Civil War, many whites and Natives began to hunt buffalo, reducing the the population from 15 million to only thousands.
- Our people were killed in a susprise attack on the Cheyenne and Arapaho people along Sandy Creek in Southeastern Colorado.
- You people have attacked us many times so this is our response. All friendly natives to meet at army posts for protection.
- The Battle of Little Bighorn was an armed engagement between the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribe and the US Army. The Natives beat the US.
- The tracking of Natives became a popularized sport and was known as Indian Hunting. This is enjoyment to me and many other white settlers.
- Our Sioux tribe turned to the prophet Wovoka who inspired a spiritual. Its ghost dance ecstatic visions. For example, one vision was the retreat of whites a restoration of buffalo.
- The Wounded Knee was a massacre of over 300 lakota people by US soldiers. Originally everyone was peaceful when the soldiers were trying to help but then fights broke out.
- The new Dawes Act will reduce the amount of land that the natives will be able to own.
- This will destroy tribal ownership of the land and leave it up to individual owners.
