- Omar and Hassan have lived in Dadaad for almost all of their life. Dadaad in a refugee camp in Kenya. Omar is the older one. He watches Hassan, and talkes care of him. Hassan is Omars younger brother, he was born with a dissabilaty where he cant talk. Hassan only says Hoyoo, which means mama in their language. Omar and Hassan dont know where their parents are, they could be dead, so they live with Fatuma.
- At the interview
- Omar has just started school, it is reallly crowed. The room is seperated into girls and boys. Omar worries about Hassan while he is at school because Hassan has had many seizures in the past. Omar feels like he is doing well in school.
- The letter
- Omar finds out that Hassan and him are on the list for a interview with the UN. This means that Omar and Hassan are getting interviewed, and that could be relocated to America. That is Omars dream. Omar rushes home to tell Hassan and Fatuma,
- First years are lost.
- After walking a long walk to the UN building, Omar, Hassan, and Fatuma waited in the line for interviews. Omar talked for almost all the interviews. He talked about his childhood, and how Hassan and him lost their parents and about Hassans disabilty. Omar couldn't speak english very well so they had a interpreter. The interview was very emotional. Omar has had an emotional life.
- After waiting and waiting for a letter from the UN, Omar became hopeless. He was older now, but he had the same dream he had when he was younger, to leave the regugee camp. Fatuma was older, too.. After a while, Omar finally recieved a letter, it said for them to come for a second interview to be resettled to America. Omar was so excite, but sad he would leave all of his friends. Fatuma told him that she was to old to go and that she would spend the rest of her live in Dadaad. This made Omar sad. He had lived with Fatuma for almost all of his life.
- The second interview was over, and Omar and Hassan would be being resettled to America. Omar said that his first years were lost. Even though it was Omars dream to live in America, he would miss dadaad.
