- When Billy's Grandad gets anointing of the sick, there are 4 main parts.Prayer of Faith: The Priest / family will gather together the members of the catholic community to pray for the candidate in a form of litany. This will make the candidate feel close with their brothers and sisters of the church and closer to God / Jesus through them. Laying of the hands: The place will place his hands on the head of the candidates forehead to represent them being the centre of this specific prayer. This also represents the healing powers of God and calling the holy spirit to look over this person. The Anointing: The Priest will anoint the hands and feet of the candidate with a sacred olive oil while also saying a prayer asking God to send grace, love and healing power to this person. Prayer after Anointing: Lastly, The Priest will say a short but important prayer to the candidate. The Priest will express the trust and hope that the church has that God will strengthen this person and send them to the holy spirit.
