- One day, as Gautama sat under a Bodhi tree meditating, he achieved enlightenment. The enlightenment he received has become the principal teaching of Buddhism.

- The Tripitaka is the holy book or the sutras. In this book the Buddha issued: The Four Noble Truths1. All life is suffering 2. There is a cause for suffering 3. There is a end to suffering 4. In order to end suffering you must follow The Eightfold Path.
